About our FFA Chapter

About the Harlan FFA Chapter
The Harlan FFA Chapter was chartered in 1941. We currently have 144 members in grades 8-12. We have 2 FFA Advisors, Ms. McCall and Mr. Shughart. Classes offered as part of the agriculture program at our school consist of Middle School Ag 1 and 2, Ag I/Ag Genetics, Ag II/Ag Biology, Ag III/Ag Mechanics, Ag IV/Intro to Ag Business and Marketing, Ag IV/Leadership, College Survey of the Animal Industry, College Principles of Agronomy, Spring and Fall Horticulture and Small Engines and Repair. The main focus of our FFA chapter is to fulfill the FFA Mission: "FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education." Members develop their "premier leadership" through participation in Career Development Events. All members have a Supervised Agricultural Experience Program which assists with their "personal growth and career success." Members participate in many community service events throughout the year as well. Our chapter is well rounded and strongly believes that getting young people involved in agriculture is important for the future.
